Opinion: Cape Gun Works is the Best Gun Shop and Range in New England, Bar None!

Admittedly, I had The Drop Kick Murphy’s “I’m Shipping Up To Boston” blasting on the long drive from Washington, D.C. to Cape Gun Works in Hyannis, Massachusetts yesterday.

I spend a lot of time traveling across the country for work and am blessed with the privilege of checking out gun shops and ranges. My trip to Cape Gun Works this afternoon did not disappoint.

First, I pulled into the jam-packed parking lot at Cape Gun work around 2:00pm on Saturday, I noticed how friendly the other customers were- saying ‘hello’ in the parking lot helped me feel more at ease before walking in the front door of the shop. As I walked into the store, three staffers greeted me with big smiles and welcomed me to the showroom. As a woman, it can be extremely intimidating walking into firearms stores- especially when you’re still ‘fresh behind the ears’ to shooting- and rest assured, I found at 'home' seemingly IMMEDIATELY.

First and foremost, my immediate firsthand observation was that the entire sales staff and range team were both warm, kind and very knowledgeable. It was as if I had known these perfect strangers my entire life. I felt... at home... at Cape Gun Works.

In the store itself, I noticed a lot of families shopping CGW’s awesome showroom. The women’s bathroom was pristine – in fact, the entire venue was extremely clean. Cape Gun Works’ resident Gun Smith popped out of his busy shop to answer my questions on upgrades to the guns I have back at home. Everyone was very knowledgeable and approachable.

I had the chance to speak to one of the co-owners, Brendon Bricklin, on-site. He took time out of his incredibly busy day to speak to me for about 20 minutes and answered any questions I had about CGW, as well as the multitude of anti-Second Amendment ‘issues’ plaguing the state of Massachusetts. In my professional capacity as the National Director of Legislative Policy at Washington, D.C.’s premiere The Heller Foundation, our conversation transitioned into how our team can assist in future litigation and legislation.

More importantly, please be advised that Cape Gun Works recently received the prestigious honor of becoming a certified NSSF Five-Star Range. It is also the home to Rapid Fire Radio. They also teach classroom and range at the venue, with a wide variety of courses from women’s-only training, to ‘date night’ Fridays to beginner educational courses.

As such, I strongly urge you to check out CGW’s official website at: www.CapeGunWorks.com - and follow them on social media at: @capegunworks / @rapidfireradio - for the latest news and scheduling updates.

After snagging a fashionable ‘Cape Gun Works’ hoodie at the merchandise section of the shop, I ventured over the gun range. Again, the staff was very accommodating, friendly and walked me through the requisite waiver process and brief multiple-choice questionnaire about the range safety rules specific to CGW. This is a standard process at all gun ranges across the United States and I found this digital process quick and easy to complete.

Next, I rented the H&K VP9 recommended by the range staff as I am on the market for a secondary carry. I fired 50 rounds through it and loved every second. The RSO’s were helpful and extremely professional. Then, Chris surprised me with a beautiful Magnum Research Desert Eagle, and I was so grateful to have the opportunity to shoot a few rounds down-range. All I can say is... God Bless America. I was smiling ear-to-ear when I left the range.

Finally, in closing, Hon. Ms. Kristie Tertel, The Heller Foundation's National Director of Legislative Policy, adds: "Overall, my visit to Cape Gun Works was outstanding and I rank it a 10/10. Check it out next time your family is in New England!"
